Racing in 2021!

Racing returned in 2021! We saw BATWomen race, podium and win at local WHY Racing Events, Best in the West Triathlon Festival, 70.3 St. George, 70.3 Oregon, 70.3 Maple Valley and the 70.3 World Championships and at trail races and bike races across the Pacific Northwest.

We’re looking forward to seeing what 2022 brings!

  • Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells (California)

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom raced a strong race in the women’s pro field, finishing in 4:43. Fiona Moriarty, racing her pro debut after her best training block ever, flatted twice and had to withdraw.

NOVEMBER 2019

  • Silver Falls 50K Trail Race

    • Result: Despite managing a tough schedule of medical rotations for PA school, Rachael Lenz wins the 50K at Silver Falls.

  • USAT Aquabike National Championships at MiamiMan

    • Result: Juliet Hochman was second out of the water and averaged over 25 mph for the first 35 miles before her rear tire blew. Despite riding on a flat for the last 21 miles of this half-ironman course, Juliet won her age group and finished 3rd overall woman. National Champion!

  • USAT National Championships - Draft Legal Sprint Triathlon (Arizona)

    • Result: Juliet Hochman wins her age group for her second National Championship in six days, finishing 11th woman overall.

OCTOBER 2019

  • Ironman Louisville (Kentucky)

    • Result: In a race that started with a time trial bike leg resulting from a cancelled swim, Shannon Coates finishes 8th in her age group in a time of 9:34:30.

  • Ironman 70.3 Waco (Texas)

    • Result: Elise Lagerstrom is 4th out of the water and 10th female pro in her first race as a professional in a time of 4:47.

  • XTERRA World Championships (Hawaii)

    • Result: Hannah Allen crashes badly and sustains a concussion on the first lap of the bike, but still battles back from 5th to 4th in her age group, missing the podium by under 30 seconds.

SEPTEMBER 2019

  • Ironman 70.3 World Championships (France)

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom and Fiona Moriarty both finished 6th in their Age Group. Allison Lehnen posted a strong effort in her second 70.3 ever on a challenging course.

  • Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz (California)

    • Result: Danielle Audino crushed the bike course posting a two minute overall PR and a podium, 4th place finish!

    • Result: Somehow juggling medical school rotations and managing 17 hour shifts for the two months prior to the race, Cymon Kersch finished 11th in the women’s pro field. Cymon embodied BATWomen spirit to the core by stopping to ask a bystander to check the tracker and find her teammate Danielle on the course to see if she could support her on the run.

  • Admiral Funbelow Perimeter Swim (Massachusetts)

    • Result: Finding herself unexpectedly in Massachusetts for a family emergency, Juliet Hochman jumped into this local race, drafted the male winner for 2600 yards and finished first female and second overall.

  • Best in the West Sprint Triathlon Festival, Sweet Home OR

    • Result: Gwen Hryciw placed third in the Best in the West Half Ironman, beating her previous year's time by 7 minutes.

    • Result: Ashley Zagst won overall and set a bike course record in the Sprint Aquabike.

  • Swim-Run Orcas Island (Washington)

    • Result: Cymon Kersch and her partner, Scott Tienken won the team division and finished 4th overall, completing the 2 mile swim/10 mile run course in 2:37.

AUGUST 2019

  • XTERRA Portland

    • Result: Hannah Allen finishes 3rd overall woman despite crashing her bike twice.

  • SeaWheeze Half Marathon, Vancouver, Canada

    • Result: Hannah Allen used the race as a training exercise running mile cut-backs for the second half, finishing in 1:35.

  • WHY Racing Lucky Triathlon, Washington

    • Result: Gwen Hryciw placed second overall female at this inaugural triathlon, PRing on the bike and the run

  • WHY Racing Columbia River Olympic Triathlon

    • Results: Jumping into the race as a hard training day leading up to the 70.3 World Championship, Elise Lagerstrom and Fiona Moriarty pushed each other in a hard fight to finish 1-2, setting a new course record by over 6 minutes.

  • WHY Racing Girlfriends Sprint Aquabike

    • Results: Ashley Zagst wins overall and sets the course record.

  • Hood to Coast Relay, Portland OR

    • Result: Hannah Allen runs with her corporate team from ON Running.

  • ITU World Triathlon Championships (Switzerland)

    • Result: Allison Lehnen completed the Olympic Triathlon, finishing third American in her age group.

  • 2nd Annual BATWomen Epic Solstice Adventure, Hood River OR

    • 30+ athletes, 10K run, 103 miles bike, 2 mile swim, 7 pizzas, 5 lbs pasta.

  • XTERRA Victoria (Canada)

    • Result: In her first-ever XTERRA, Hannah Allen finished 2nd overall amateur female, wins her age group and punches her ticket to the XTERRA World Championships in Hawaii.

  • Portland Bridge Swim

    • Result: Shannon Coates completed her third 11-mile bridge swim, swimming the anchor leg of her 3-woman relay team.

  • WHY Racing Hagg Lake Triathlon, Portland OR

    • Result: Juliet Hochman is overall winner (men and women) in the Olympic Aquabike, setting a new course record.

  • Boulder Triathlon

    • Result: Allison Lehnen, returning to altitude in her recent move to Colorado, wins her age group and finishes 4th female overall in the Boulder Sprint Triathlon.

  • Trans-Tahoe Swim Relay

    • Result: Fiona Moriarty and her team complete the 11-mile swim across Lake Tahoe in under 5 hours.

  • OBRA Hill Climb TT, Government Camp OR

    • Result: Juliet Hochman wins 1st overall women, breaking her previous time on this course by 40 seconds and nabbing a QOM segment on the climb.

JUNE 2019

  • WHY Racing Portland Triathlon at Blue Lake, Portland OR

    • Result: Danielle Audino won her age group and finished 5th overall female in her warm up race for 70.3 CdA. Ashley Zagst finished 2nd in her age group.

  • Ironman 70.3 Victoria (Canada)

    • Result: Third woman overall out of the water, Elise Lagerstrom won her age group and finished 5th amateur woman, beating her 2018 time by 12 minutes and setting a half marathon PR by 4.5 minutes.

  • Northwest Epic Series: Echo Valley 30-mile Mountain Bike Race (Washington)

    • Result: In her first-ever MTB race, Hannah Allen finished 3rd overall woman.

  • Kokopelli Relay Bike Race from Moab to St. George, Utah.

    • Result: Cymon Kersch and Juliet Hochman joined two friends on a mixed competitive team riding six legs each to cover 525 miles and 30,000+ feet of climbing. The team finished 11th overall in under 30 hours.

  • OBRA Time Trial Championships, Oregon

    • Result: Despite missing a turn, Juliet Hochman posted the second fastest women’s time, finishing the 40K TT in under an hour and winning the Cat 3 and Master’s divisions.

  • OBRA Criterium Championships, Oregon

    • Result: In her first-ever Crit, Juliet Hochman led from the bell to win the Masters/Cat 4/5 race.

  • Wy’East Wonder 50K Endurance Run

    • Result: Despite missing a turn and adding 2 miles to the race, Rachael Lenz finished 9th woman and 24th overall, breaking the 6 hour mark in her first 50K.

  • Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene (Idaho)

    • Results: In her first 70.3 Allison Lehnen finishes 6th in the 35-39 age group in 5:13. Danielle Audino and Laura MacCarley finish 13th and 14th in the 25-29 age group in a time of 5:22 and 5:30 respectively. Aly Wilson also finished in 5:22.

  • Ironman 70.3 Steelhead (Michigan)

    • Result: Elise Lagerstrom storms through the course, finishing 3rd overall woman, winning her age group, setting a 5 minute PR in 4:38 and earning her pro card.

  • WHY Racing Pacific Crest Half Ironman, Bend OR

    • Result: Gwen Hryciw finished second overall female.

  • Baker City Cycling Classic (Oregon)

    • Result: Juliet Hochman wins the 3-day, 4-event stage race for Cat 3 women.

  • Montinore bike race, Portland OR

    • Results: Juliet Hochman finished first Cat 3 and first Masters woman.

  • Ironman Santa Rosa (California)

    • Results: Laura MacCarley finishes IM Santa Rosa.

  • Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast (Florida)

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom led the overall amateur race through mile 10 of the run, finishing second overall by only 2 seconds, setting a new PR of 4:42:47 and winning her age group. 

  • Pole-Pedal-Paddle, Bend OR

    • Results: Gwen Hryciw downhill skied, nordic skied, biked, ran, and canoed her way to first place in the individual recreational female category.

  • WHY Racing Spring Classic Duathlon, Portland OR

    • Results: Allison Lehnen and Danielle Audino finish 1-2 to top the podium at Portland’s season opener. Ashley Zagst finished 4th.

  • Boston Marathon, Boston MA

    • Rachael Lenz runs a crushing 2:55, including a torrid 6:17 last mile for a 17 minute PR. Laura MacCarley paces well in anticipation of her Ironman next month, cruising home in 3:41 (except for a last mile of 6:26, where she clearly stopped checking her heart rate monitor and pacing…)

  • Hop Hop Half Marathon, Portland OR

    • Hannah Allen finishes first woman and second overall in a blistering time of 1:27:57 despite blistering headwinds in the second half of the race.

  • Deschutes River Valley Time Trial Stage Race, Maupin OR

    • Missing Stage 1 because of a work commitment, Juliet Hochman finishes second overall woman in Stage 2 (8-mile hill climb TT) and Stage 3 (46-mile TT up to Bakeoven pass and back), just 3-months post-surgery.

  • Jack Frost Time Trial, Vancouver WA

    • In her first-ever TT, Danielle Audino sets a new FTP racing in the Women’s Cat 4 field.

  • Ironman 70.3 Campeche (Mexico)

    • Despite serious gastrointestinal distress resulting from food poisoning, Cymon Kersch finishes her first 2019 race as a Pro.

  • Shamrock Half marathon, Portland OR

    • On a hilly course, Danielle Audino sets a half-marathon PR at the Shamrock Half.

  • Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom leads her age group out of the water for a PR finish of 4:49, a second place finish in her Age Group and a qualification to 2019 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France.

  • Holiday Half and 5K, Portland, OR

    • In the 5K, Amy Henderson ran a blistering 19:39 to finish 4th overall in a field of 745 women; new BATWoman, Danielle Audino ran a 19:48, good enough for 7th overall.

    • In the half marathon, Rachael Lenz sauntered in 12th in a field of 863 women at 1:29 in a race she was apparently running with classmates “just for fun.” Allison Lehnen was right behind, finishing in 1:34.

  • Ironman World Championships, Kona, HI

    • Result: In a sprint to the finish just 5 seconds ahead of the next woman, Amy Henderson moves up from 270th after the swim, to 10th overall woman and 4th in her Age Group, earning her pro card and setting a 17 minute PR in 9:48.

  • Ironman 70.3 Arizona

    • Result: First woman out of the water (third overall!), Elise Lagerstrom led the field through the first 40K of the bike before the sidewall of her tire exploded, ending her bid for the podium and a 2019 Worlds slot.

  • 70.3 World Championships, Port Elizabeth, South Africa

    • Hannah Allen and Juliet Hochman qualify, but decline participation because of distance and expense.

  • Best in the West Triathlon Festival, Oregon

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom wins the Sprint triathlon in a blistering time of 1:03, just off the course record.

    • Results: In her last stop before Kona, Amy Henderson cruises in to win the 70.3 triathlon in 4:44, setting a new course record.

  • Seattle's 10K Invitational Swim

    • Results: After a frustrating summer dealing with a serious injury, Cymon Kersch finds the feet of the lead male and stays there, finishing first female and second overall in a time of 2:30 flat.

  • SwimRun San Juan Islands

    • Results: In her first-ever Swim-Run event, Rachael Lenz and her teammate win the short course mixed open event.

    • Results: Steelhead Select women sweep the Olympic Tri podium: Hannah Allen 1st, Juliet Hochman 2nd and Amy Henderson 3rd.

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom wins the Sprint triathlon. 

  • Ironman 70.3 Whistler

    • Results: Juliet Hochman finishes 7th for overall women with the 2nd fastest bike time for the day, wins her Age Group and qualifies for 2019 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France.

  • Ironman 70.3 Santa Rosa

    • Results: In a race that cancelled her strongest leg, the swim, Elise Lagerstrom laid down a PR on the bike to finish 7th in her AG and 21st overall women.

  • XTERRA Triathlon, Portland OR

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom finishes 2nd in her AG, 6th amateur women, with the fastest swim split of the day for all men and women.

    • Results: Rachael Lenz finishes first amateur woman (4th overall) in the 72.3 Beastman Tri, winning her age group by 27 minutes.

    • Results: Amy Henderson finishes 4th female overall, wins her AG, punches her ticket to the Ironman World Championships in Kona and sets a PR of 10:06, smashing her reach goal by 14 minutes and her previous best by 48 minutes.

  • PIR Race Series (bike), Portland, OR

    • Results: Elise Lagerstrom wins the Cat 4 series jersey!

  • Spring Classic 10K, Portland OR

    • Results: Juliet Hochman finishes 2nd overall, wins women's race and sets a course record.

  • Barton Park Road Race (bike), Oregon

    • Results: Juliet Hochman and Elise Lagerstrom finish 1-2 in Cat 4 race. Juliet upgrades to Cat 3.

  • USAT Collegiate Nationals, Alabama

    • Results: Race is changed from triathlon to duathlon due to unsafe swim conditions. Elise Lagerstrom finishes in top 12% despite missing out on her fastest leg, the swim.

  • Heart of the Valley Triathlon, Oregon

    • Results: Juliet Hochman finishes 2nd overall (men and women), setting a new course record.

  • PIR Race Series (bike), Portland OR

    • Results: In April 16 series opener, Juliet Hochman wins Cat 4 race and finishes 2nd overall; Elise Lagerstrom nabs 2nd in Cat 4 and 3rd overall.
